First year of staging the music connected with Watchet Carnival weekend at Parsonage farm. After the East Quay area of Watchet was no longer available for carnival events due to proposed development ( its still not built on!)
Plus the first year of charging/changing from a free entry event
(we weren't popular!)
And it rained for the whole year/summer including the entire carnival festival weekend!
Shane people would of stopped organising anything at this point!
Before staging the weekend at the festival site at Parsonage farm, what has become "Watchet Festival" grew out of Watchet Carnival day, that became a weekend and grew year on year for 9 years (1998 -2006 )as a free admission event, thrown together year on year with a very small budget, and nothing like it is today.
